This series consists of one large album of certificates, appointments, commissions and officecal communications under seal relating to Samuel James Mitchell during his time in South Australia and the Northern Territory whilst occupying positions, such as Justice of the Northern Territory, and Acting Administrator during the transfer of the Northern Territory Administration from the responsibility of South Australian to the Commonwealth of Australian in 1910. The album includes a welcome letter from members of the Palmerston District Council (6 June 1910) a congratulatory letter on silk from the Chinese Wah On Society for appointment as Judge and Government Resident of the Northern Territory (10 June 1910), and a farewell letter from the Chinese Community in the Northern Territory (9th April 1912).
